The Inserts for Reading Papers have not been uploaded by CIE yet. I have prepared the inserts for Reading Papers myself. These Inserts contain all the answers except some ‘own words questions’ and words/meaning questions, reason being the changes made by the examiners to the original text of the novel from where the passages were taken. The formatting is not completely as per the CIE, however, the Inserts contain all the paragraphs required for solving the reading for meaning section and the words have been highlighted for the words/meaning question for your convenience. If CIE makes the Inserts available later on, I will surely update them here.

Can you please tell me if we get penalized for exceeding the word count in paper 1, like are marks deducted?
Also, what happens if we ONLY cover the points given in the question in our directed writing, do they give less marks?
For an A* quality answer, there should be some relevant additional information that you may need to provide in your answer. Covering the content points is the first and foremost requirement for a good answer.

No marks will be deducted for exceeding the word limit. However, it will indirectly the quality of writing if you go way beyond the word limit, as you will not have anytime for planning and editing your work properly.

can you send me summary writing texts for further practice in class .we hv completed the pastpapers
You can use some of the previous past paper reading comprehension passages which are factual in nature for further practice in the classroom. You will have to devise the summary question yourself. Please see the passage of November 2009 as an example. You can set a summary question for this passage requiring the students to write stages in the development of the Olympic Games as well as pros/advantages and cons/disadvantages of the Olympic Games as given in the passage.
I want to know how the word limit should be counted in paper one.
should we count every word, or take an estimate by counting 3 letter and more words.. kindly elaborate it.
It is better if you count the words in three full lines of text that you have written and then divide the total by 3 to calculate your average words per line. Then count the total lines in your essay and multiply them by the average words per line. It is a more time and energy efficient method for counting the words of your essay.
in short if i say that there is no need to count 1 or 2 letter words… is it right?
You must count each and every word in your essay including articles (a, an and the) and prepositions (in, on, at, etc.).

What exactly do you mean by formats for reading papers?

Well, the major changes are in the Reading Paper. You’ll need to prepare the questions according to the new format using the passages from the previous years’ papers.
